I think that's a fair question. A few things about that ...
BYU is Big12 now, so we're in a much better place to retain coaches. Pope going to KY is well, not surprising. It's KY. So I think we'd be able to retain Burgess unless it was a KY kind of situation. The other question mark is if Utah's position opened up ... Burgess might consider that, and it would probably depend on how supported he feels in the AD here. I don't think coaches have had a good relationship in the past with Santiago, but I don't know about Burgess specifically. Hopefully it's better.

Madsen I think would come and stay at BYU forever. I think he would love it here, and I think BYU would love him. He's like Kalani ... he wants to be building things like character, the Kingdom, etc. That's my sense anyway. But I think Burgess would probably be a better coach. But if Burgess leaves in 5 years, I think Madsen would be interested still at that point.

I could be wrong, but that's my sense.

I actually think there's a decent pool of potential coaches ... much more than we have in Football, I feel. Beard at Houston, Peery at Texas Tech, Madsen, Burgess, Alex Jensen (if he'd come). It's why I feel bullish on BYU Basketball...I think there's enough choices to feel good about things, even if Pope or Burgess leave.
