This is not about me or one of your friends. There is no question that sports
are a bigger draw in society than choirs are. The particular sport may change from region to region, but it's going to be true pretty much anywhere in the world.

As far as the church ranking the choir above sports in terms of missionary work, how in the world are they measuring the impact of sports vs the choir on missionary work? Is there a box to click somewhere when there's a baptism that says, "I became interested in the church because I started talking to my neighbor about college football". The church has no way of accurately quantifying the impact because missionary work is a combination of personal connections and spiritual experiences.
