If you had written a 1996 fictional work predicting that in 2024 we would be in
the Big 12, have lost our coach to Kentucky after never winning a conference title or an NCAA tournament game under said head coach, and be about to hire (most likely) Chris Burgess as his replacement, I would have told you something like “there is only so much suspension of disbelief you can ask of your readers. I know this is is supposed to be fiction, but this book has crossed the line. The story line is too outlandish for me to even stay with you and try to pretend I believe any of this could really happen. Are you trying to write a parody or a slapstick? If so it probably needs to be funnier and more, not less believable.”
