Sorry if already posted, but I did not see it anywhere. Makes some good points replicated throughout CB comments. Quick summary:
-Kentucky is not really Mark Pope's home.
-Mark Pope was certainly not the first or second or third choice for UK
-Why would Mark Pope leave where his values fit the quirky BYU/Utah culture fit so well?
-Surprised that Mark Pope was hired at BYU in the first place without first proving himself in lesser programs.
-Mark Pope has done little to qualify for head coach at UK
-Cited BYU's poor WCC performance, which worsened every year
-Entire merit seems be based on a one turnaround year outperforming expectations in the Big12 debut
-Post season performance for BYU was a joke under Mark Pope
-How will he recruit at UK? What message does he really have?
-Winner might be BYU. Loser might be Mark Pope.
-This might be a great win for BYU
Of course, on one point he might be totally wrong, saying that most players would not leave BYU since they are more committed to the school than to the coach. We will see... Anyway, love the optimism and positive outlook for BYU, which exceeds the optimism of many BYU fans.
