there are parts of the "finishing at the rim" skill that you can work on...
...and one skill in particular that I think BYU players really need a lot of work on (Jaxson Robinson especially) is finishing through contact and another is finishing through a crowd and not getting the ball stripped (another one Jax needs a ton of work on).

I do a couple of different drills with the kids I coach to help them with both of these. One drill is having them drive the lane through me on one side and another coach or player on the other side and us trying to claw/strip the ball loose. We teach them how to tuck the ball like a running back just before getting in the crowd of defenders to keep it secure. Another drill is done in similar fashion with us holding blocking pads and we provide some contact and resistance to the player as they drive to the hoop. We teach them to lower a shoulder and bring more force in their motion towards the hoop including going off of 2 feet for additional strength.

Last season was a little frustrating watching finesse guys like Jax and Trey get open drives to the lane only to watch a lone defender easily pick their pockets time and time again because they were too casual and didn't secure the ball. It was also hard to watch our guards get knocked to the ground constantly on drives to the hoop and not get the call because they drive in too soft and timid. They could learn a few things from watching Richie attack the rim.
