Pope did some things wonderfully well, but he also did a lot of head scratchers. I don’t think he managed the last five minutes of games well at all. He was incapable of protecting massive leads, and his substitutions were frequently mind boggling.
If he doesn’t resolve those issues he’s not going to last long at Kentucky. If he yanks a hot player there and loses a large lead as a consequence he’s going to think our complaints were blowing him kisses in comparison to how they’ll react.
I’m grateful he was our coach last year and I wish him luck—he’s going to need it.
