The stats don't necessarily agree. defensive points over replacement says...
they were about average for their team.
Now, there's no doubt they both slumped near the end of the season, and at that point, Pope should have, in retrospect, reconsidered his lineups. But overall for the season, they played well---or at least as well as anyone else.
