I bet it was leaked for a few reasons:
1. BYU wanting to show that they are serious. Will help draw attention for a staff and transfers (NIL).
2. KY wanting to make it clear that he didn’t go to a college gig as a step down or because he couldn’t land an NBA job.
3. To stick it to Pope (probably not, but doesn’t hurt)
