My wife and I went on a cruise a couple weeks ago, and I've been thinking a little bit about the food experience. As a whole, it's pretty great, but what makes it great is the combination of pretty good food and an absolutely ridiculous amount of it. The breakfast buffet may have been my favorite part of the food experience, mostly because of the endless amount of bacon. I was actually quite shameless in how much bacon I ate. But they also have pretty decent omelettes, fruit, eggs benedict, waffles/pancakes, etc.

For lunches we usually did pizza/burger/nachos/whatever from the grill by the pool. Not great, but I wasn't usually all that hungry for lunch with all the bacon I had eaten a couple hours before.

The dinners in the formal dining areas were simply just meh. In general, I stayed away from the steak, because my standard is either my own steak I make at home, or wagyu at places like Ruth's Chris or Beckon Steakhouse in Denver in case any of you have been there (my wife's and my favorite...about monthly). I generally stuck with whatever seafood they had because it was pretty safe. Vegetables/sides were meh, and the desserts could all use an extra tablespoon of sugar per serving in their recipe.

I know they're cooking several thousand meals every day, so it's hard to have super high quality with everything. And the good thing is that if you don't like something, you can just order another one and try that.

Anyway, overall a good experience, especially if you just want to absolutely gorge yourself for a week.
