I worked for the church in the early 2000’s as a facility manager

We tried and tried to get approvals for an AED but kept getting denied. We even had a donor that would pay for them at our facility. Our boss secretly kept one in his car and was ready to get fired if it saved someone’s life. That was years ago. Hopefully the church’s views have changed on AEDs.

They have to be maintained and the pads switched out every 5 years.

No. Most are maintenance free with 2-5 year shelf life of expired components.
