It makes too much sense that ticket revenue (and TV contracts) could be used to pay players. They aren’t because of Title IX and universities wanting to spread the money. Schemes that start tapping into ticket revenue will likely be rejected by those protecting existing revenue from athletics to universities. I don’t think they’re necessarily greedy but are funding other things with it (all the money losing sports).
