Bird was much better their first 3 years in the league. Yet Magic won 2 titles. Why? Because his teams were stacked including the #3 rated player of all-time.

Bird joined a team that was 29-53 and instantly changed the franchise.

Now towards the end of their runs their teams were similar. But not at the beginning. Not even close.
