When I see the name Alaska Airlines I'm brought to remember the pictures they
sent to the Church. I was working at the Church then and I was over materials arriving at the Church HQ, which included many letters and packages that weren't addressed to any specific name other than the Church. I would review the contents and forward it to the applicable department. I've read some real crazy stuff.

Once, a passenger left older 50's-70's pictures on a flight. It had originated in Salt Lake, so Alaska Airlines sent them to the Church, believing if there was someone who could find the owners, it was us.

I got them and I couldn't pass on the challenge to figure out who could have left them. They didn't give me a list of the passengers, but there were a few names written on some of the pics. We also saw some license plates on cars in some pics. We assembled the information, along with Security, and we found the owner, using social media. A widower that had been flying to visit his daughter and was taking the pictures to give to her. They were all the family pictures they had kept as a family and were irreplaceable. He didn't remember where they had last been when he had lost them.

The man, who was not a member of the Church, was incredibly grateful that we had found him and returned them to him. I was grateful that Alaska Airlines didn't just throw them in some lost and found and gave us the opportunity of reuniting them.
