Think the concept really works in today’s world with high costs, property tax, hoa’s, etc.

Another issue is how now-a-days everyone’s lives (esp kids) are so busy/structured that it’s hard to get away.

Throw in a spouse who freaks out if you miss church and those weekend get-aways get even less frequent.

Than the upkeep..

I think I would only do it now if I was old with kids with their own families who lived close who could all share in it.

With that said I also miss what I had and realize that I’ll likely never have an opportunity to get that ever again (was in a mountain town before the RE spike)… so if you could afford it and the opportunity is there now it can be hard to pass up.
