One time during residency I was helping with a complicated surgery removing
highly infectious gangrene from a patient’s leg. Someone messed up a portion of the procedure and in a fit of rage, the lead surgeon flipped a tray and a needle with the highly infectious gangrene landed in my arm. Luckily I didn’t become infected.
