I don’t have a crystal ball here…
College sports has been and SHOULD remain a great product, but that’s hardly a guarantee that it will remain so.
The likelihood is we’ll still have some iteration, at least among the very top schools, of a highly-watched and valued product, even if it’s minor league pro sports with loose attachments to schools.
We could also wake up 10 years from now with collegiate sports a shell of what they once were. If that’s the case, it won’t surprise me if the limitless portal + the wild west of NIL goes down as the thing that killed the goose that laid the golden egg.
