ManicBlue Intervention Needed
C is/was the best option by far IMO (evidently Ainge's opinion too).
Ainge had a HUGE task in front of him with that Jazz team.

1. It wasn't good enough to advance in the playoffs (poor perimeter defenders with a center that couldn't defend the 3pt line).
2. It had ZERO assets to be able to improve (no tradeable draft picks and the picks they couldn't trade were mediocre and no cap space).
3. Only TWO very good players who were being paid well (overpaid?) yet one was likely to bail at the end of his contract and no chance of adding another to the mix.

So, sure if you were happy with a team that won enough to make the playoffs but ended with an early exit from them. I guess it was the wrong move. OTOH, if you wanted a total tank job, would you really be happy of losing teams for the next 5 yrs with only a chance of becoming an elite team before some of your picks bailed for winning teams?

Ainge has had to do this rebuild in steps.

1. Restock the Jazz with tradeable assets (picks/players). Mission accomplished. The Jazz have the 2nd most tradeable picks in the league right now.
2. Recover some salary cap space. Mission accomplished. The Jazz are among the top teams with available cap space.
3. Restock the team with versatile two-way players that can win in the regular season and post-season. In progress.

Ainge has done this before ... twice with Boston. He knows what he's doing.
