Okay your list of names are great, but the actual stats say that higher draft
picks yield a higher percentage of all star appearances. The vast majority of NBA Finals MVPs have been high lottery picks.

Lottery picks have a 25.7% chance of becoming an all star. Non-lottery picks have a 7.8% chance. 2nd rounders have a 4.3% chance.

Talent evaluations are great but only take you so far. Teams have no idea how players are going to turn out. Why did Denver pick Doug McDermott over Jokic? Teams want as high of a draft pick as possible so they can draft the best talent that they deem available. The actual facts say that that gives the highest likelihood of an all star caliber draft pick.
