Mostly I do stovetop in a big pot because I'm too lazy to get the maker I have off the shelf in the storage room and the
have to clean it up afterwards. Admittedly the maker makes more authentic movie theater style corn because of the constant stirring even during popping and with proper exact ratios.
My stovetop pot makes more popcorn at once and when 3 teenagers are eating it, volume and ease of clean up trump authenticity at our house.
