that ludicrous. He had millions in Japan and didn't care about money at all. The money went to his parents and they would pay him a monthly stipend. He lived in the on campus housing units (usually used for rookies) so he could just be one of the guys and focus on baseball. He just does not care that much about money. He obsesses about the intricacies of baseball and being the best.

Sure money is nice, and he will never worry about a bill in his life, but he just doesn't think about it the way Americans do. Only thing I can think of that is remotely similar is Manti Te'o situation. No one could imagine he could be so dumb. But reality is, he fell for it, and got burned.
