I’ve wondered about this but I don’t think ROI is the motive. It’s rich guys
spending entertainment money to buy a team.
And the ego of outspending other rich guys to win players.
Poor performance will just get a coach fired but the money will keep flowing bc no one wants their team to lose the arms race 🤷♂️.
