Freakonomics just did a podcast about fraternities.
Given I went to the Y I had no clue about the ins/outs of fraternities. Wow. Mind-blowing. Talk about big money. For example - "total cost to be a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at the University of Illinois runs around $15,000 dollars a year".

This was very educational to me about fraternities given that I have no prior exposure to them. I'm assuming sororities are similar??
