Valhalla is pure 80’s/90’s golf course built in the bigger and longer trend phase of golf design
That was more of a knee-jerk reaction early to players hitting it along way, and not the real solution.. Players figured out that type of golf course pretty easy, and it doesn’t really phase them anymore.

The PGA of America used to be one of the owners of Valhalla, which is the main reason why it has hosted PGA champs and Ryder cups. They sold the club in 2022, so I doubt it hosts majors in the future, at least without a big renovation.
