We have submitted all the recent articles and journals to our largest insurers. There is some interest/traction, but it is SLOOOOOW.
There are many people who do PRP who don't want it to be covered by insurance. Once it is covered, there are set prices and you can't just set your own price unless your entire practice is cash based. People can charge $1000 or more currently (which is honestly crazy).
Those gel/visco/Synvisc injections are covered by a lot of insurers, but they are insanely expensive (sometimes $1000 or more for each injection and it's a series of 3). There have been at least a dozen studies where they have gone head to head with PRP and I don't recall a single study where PRP didn't come out ahead or at least even. It's frustrating that we can't get it approved. But that's often the case when you don't have the power of a pharmaceutical company behind a treatment.
