I mean, if “best case scenario” meant everything went perfect - which in the
context of sports that would mean undefeated and winning the championship - there wouldn’t be a need for that saying at all. Everyone would already know what best case was (championship) and nobody would ever use that term, they would instead say “best realistic scenario.”

Even a non-native English speaker should be able to understand the implication (assuming they understand English enough to know what all those words mean, of course).
