Just think how much he'd have made putting that in the market at 8%+ annually.
The stock market rocketed from 2009-2018 – far more than 8% some years (around $148,800 annually). Without any effort he may have easily made a minimum of $2,232,000 (or $6MM with compounded interest). If he had real investment brains it would have been much more than that over 15 years.
