IMO, it's a step in the right direction. Fans shouldn't be paying players salary
The schools should be paying the salary because they're the ones making the money.
Once schools start paying players, they'll start giving out contracts (and hopefully a salary cap), which will lock players into schools for multiple years, hopefully ending the transfer portal madness.
