& then the careful vetting of recruits guys we need to do — given the break-neck speed Portal recruiting goes at right now — I really don't see any other way for BYU to have a chance at winning a big national-level recruit — other than to identify him very early as a "BYU fit" — & then be willing to get in his graces early by setting the price early for him. And be willing to take it to the bidding war if that's what it takes to get him.

If that's what we're indeed doing (& I think the evidence is becoming pretty persuasive) — it is really the only way for BYU to reinvent itself in this new NIL/Portal era as a national-level recruiting program.

We just have too many hangups to do it any other way, imo. Which is why I'm beginning to believe our recruiting has indeed changed in the last month in ways that are entirely unprecedented for BYU.
