The Longest Day, Tora Tora Tora, The Battle of Britain, A Bridge Too Far, Midway, The Book Thief. These are pretty tame.
Depending on the kid JoJo Rabbit could also work. It can get a bit dark at parts but it also has humor blended in. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is good as well (just skip the gas chamber scene).
