BYU has plenty of money available for athletics sufficient to pay for contract buyouts, travel, expert help on Visas, etc., yet continue to maintain pay that goes directly to the player in a range compatible with the rest of the roster.
It's beautiful!
And that advantage will likely continue to expand to domestic players as guys look to get out of multi year deals at other schools and need contract buyouts. Other institutions probably would have to count buyout cost against their player pay budget. Not a problem at BYU.
$2M? BYU can do that as long as it doesn't go to the player directly for compensation.
This is creative and very BYU like.
