I had an 86 528i that my family bought new. I sold it in 1998 with 186,000 miles on it, and it ran wonderfully. No major problems with it. Just little things here and there. The only downside to them is when something does go wrong. They are more expenisve to repair. Having said that. I didn't have any major problems. Just little things here and there.
