was hoping to get out of it for nuisance value… The San Diego county sheriffs department was Plaintiffs real target of the case anyway, but plaintiffs counsel wasn’t interested in my overtures.
Then I get a call out of the blue from Plaintiff’s counsel wanting to settle me out of the case and we worked out a settlement in 20 mins on the phone. When I ask counsel why the change of heart, he said he had just got a big case in and wanted to clear his slate and get other cases settled…the big case he got in was a guy smoking pot at a drug house who was inadvertently cought up in a drug raid that had nothing to do with him. The DEA figured this out rather quickly, and let him know he was being released, problem was….they all went home for the holiday weekend and left him in a cell with no bathroom or water. They come back after the holiday weekend to find the guy still in a cell almost dead. crazy stuff.
