She was canned along with Val Hale in the general housecleaning that happened
in the aftermath of the rape charge even though she had done nothing to deserve it. It was part of a reorganization of the athletic department and the VP in charge at the time, Fred Skousen, decided to not have a separate athletic director for women's teams and was upset that Val was pushing for a place on the president's council - in essence, cutting Skousen out. Neither deserved to be treated that way. I believe Michaelis was given a retirement package and the same may be true for Hale.
