He likes the position the Jazz are in now because they have successfully tanked. Therefore, their odds of acquiring, and then keeping, a transcendental player dramatically increased. Tanking is not foolproof, but it's not a stretch to say that the Jazz are in their best position of the last four years.
Also, I really don't understand exactly what you're arguing. Jazz fans are enjoying this season because it represents a step in the right direction, not because we suck (and we really do suck). Are you saying we should have overpaid Milsap and Big Al in order to be a .500 team? Exactly what are you suggesting management should have been doing besides tanking?
