Your thought process is interesting to say the least
Bottom line for any team as far as success goes is making money. They are businesses after all. Just making the playoffs while not the ultimate success is still success. Filling the arena because you have an entertaining team to watch is still success. There are many teams in the NBA that would be thrilled with the success the Jazz have had over the years.

I'm not confused about the 9 year figure you gave. It is the absolute best case scenario possible. I gave you many examples where that just didn't hold true. True superstars that want to leave a small market team don't mind taking less salary since they'll make up for it with endorsement deals in a larger market. You need to wake up and get a clue on this. You have NO recent history to back up your point and I can come up with many to support mine.

Ginobili is not a superstar but he is most certainly a star player and so is Parker. Duncan is a superstar but he wouldn't have won his championships without those 2 either. My point in bringing them up (which you've repeatedly missed) is that stars can be found in the draft even if you don't have the highest draft picks and having a high draft pick (as the Jazz have had repeatedly) does not guarantee anything. The Spurs have remained a contender despite consistently drafting lower than the Jazz (and most teams) for years. You seriously want to argue that point ?

I'm not arguing that teams cannot build through the draft. They can and occasionally have. However, putting all your faith in getting a 'transcendental' player in the draft will lead to disappointment more often than not especially if the Jazz end up picking 7th. The potential might be there for the Jazz to build a team that can contend but it's going to take a lot of work and a lot of luck so I definitely wouldn't say that a team that only won 25 games (and only 4 of their last 25 games when the young players should have been playing the best), a team that finished 25th out of 30 teams on offense, a team that finished DEAD LAST 30th out of 30 on defense, a team that is on the brink of firing their head coach, a team that may well lose one of their best players to free agency, a team that played before more empty chairs than filled ones, is anywhere close to being in any kind of 'best position'. Come back to reality with the rest of us. Hope for the future but don't go around spouting nonsense.

For your family's sake, don't go around with 'baited breath' for very long. That's just nasty.
