and I certainly don't advocate for every parent taking their kid to a psychologist at the slightest sign of difficulty. But a visit doesn't hurt either, and in the rare cases that there is something significant, some expert recommendations to help the parents handle it on their own can mean a HUGE difference for the child's future. In many cases early intervention matters a lot. Just because the parents think they are managing doesn't mean the kid is receiving the best help for his future.
I'm not saying kids need weeks of therapy, but even just one assessment visit with a consultation for the parents can make a big difference if the parents are willing to listen and make changes.
