Sometimes I wonder what warrants a phsychologist in the first place for children
that young. I'm not saying that it's not warranted in your case, but man, six years old is young. I see kids go through so many different phases including my own. Milestones and things the doctors were telling us our kid should be hitting didn't always line up, and there were times where he would make us question his development because of what we were reading in pediatrician pamphlets and watching other kids do. But in the end everything was okay, he hit his milestones, some earlier, some later, and continues to go through new phases. My point being is that we live in a world today where every quirk or phase has a diagnoses and a treatment. Yet, we are all different in our own way. We have so much information available to us online and we go in circles trying to wonder whats normal or not. It's a bizarre world sometimes.

I'm just kind of talking in general. You may have every reason in the world to be going this route and I commend you for it. What a tough thing for any parent to have to go through with their children. But it just got me thinking when you said 6 years old, sitting in a psychologist office alone with a complete stranger. It just didn't sound good. Even with a chaperon, its still a stranger. I mean what effect does just that experience, being alone with strangers, and being questioned, have on kids that young?

Hope it all works out in the end. Good luck.
