Our record the past three years, assuming your stats are correct, is actually a lot better in close games than I thought it was. Still, it's rare that we'll have a QB like Max who simply did not fail with the game on the line late in the fourth. To go 7-2 in close games, as we did from 2010 to 2011 is actually pretty dang respectable, at least until you factor in the opponents and other losses from those seasons.


I don't want to simply get back to winning close games. I want to get back to winning close games against good teams. And I'd really like for a Bronco defense to make it through an entire season without having one of "those" games where we give up several hundred yards and a whole lot of points. ORST this year, Utah last year, four of the first 5 of 2010, FSU and TCU in 2009, the entire second half of the 2008 season, Tulsa in 2007, Utah in '06, and most of '05.


Get the offense back to at least where it was, and get the defense to play an entire season without a single hiccup, and we just might have a really good team.
