I just love these posts
They are so full of self righteous judgement of those who do not share your values. Beer drinkers must be pretty bored individuals to even contemplate drinking (LOL!)..
Let me clue you in.. First, some beer is pretty dang good. Give me a good lager or Hefi, I love the taste! News Flash, so did the early saints in Navhou and Ohio. They loved their beer as well.
Second, no one just drinks at tail gates. It's like having a giant ward BBQ (if you are at BYU). Come on man, steak cooked outside with your buddies, eating food that is horrible for your body, it's something some people look forward to all week. It's called rest and relaxation with friends and family.
I've been to a few BYU tailgates in the south side of the west parking lot. We've had some good times until over eager BYU police officers whine about it. We were not hurting anyone and we'd hob nob with fans from the opposing team. Great way to introduce them to BYU.. and yes, without the alcohol.
As for out of state or even Utah tail gate parties, yeah, I like to enjoy them. It's funny at Ute games, even in my BYU garb, they tend to be a little more friendly when they realize I'm just a normal down to earth guy like the rest of them. They think most BYU fans are uptight Elder Quorrom presidents that would freak out if someone found out they were drinking a Diet Coke.
