I have 20 year old Honda Civic with 220k miles on it. It died last night while

driving home. I checked the oil and it was bone dry, so I think i might have seized the engine. The only thing is, when I try to start the engine it sounds perfectly healthy when cranking. It cranks like a mother but just won't turn over. If it were seized, it wouldn't even crank, right?

The cranking you hear could just be the the starter motor.

If it is trying to turn over (crank) then the engine is not seized

Does it have a cap and rotor, or ist it fuel injected? You could have bad rotor.
