sounds very much like a timing belt - I agree

Livecoug - When you try to turn it over, does it sound every once in a while like it might just turn over, but it never does? Does it turn fine but just sound a little "off"?

If it is trying to turn over (crank) then the engine is not seized

Does it have a cap and rotor, or ist it fuel injected? You could have bad rotor.
