It comes down to 3 things IMO
1. Heaps wasn't as good as most everyone thought he was in high school.
2. Brandon Doman wasn't good at managing Qb's - plus you add in Anae, Reynolds, and Bronco internal arguments over the position. Nobody was going to succeed at QB during that time.
3. Kansas... Seriously? That was the worst possibly place for him to transfer to - a worse team with fewer resources in a more competitive conference. He should have transferred down and tried to prove himself A la Brad Sorenson.
