I've never let my mom or mother in law go in until everything is cleaned up. In fact, I remember one time the nurses had to pretty much escort my mother in law out because my wife really didn't want her in there. She said it stressed her out to have her in there and thought it would just be more appropriate with just her and I. My mom always just waits outside the door until I get her. I always go in even though I don't love to be there because my wife wants me to be in there. The reality is that I usually end up on the couch with my feet up being pampered by the nurses. That usually annoys my wife a little bit but she gets over it and encourages me to be there for the next one.
