Public pressure has steadily moved the needle...
They aren't going to lose their big TV contracts and since they will always advance further, just the way the Big conferences in basketball do, they will always get more playoff money. And the pie will be much bigger...
They will start out with 11/16 and most years will end up with 8/8 of the next round, 4/4, of the next round and 2/2 of the championships. They'll still rake in the most dough...and much more dough then they are currently getting. But in the process they'll turn college football into an actual athletic competition rather than a beauty contest.
