The difference lies in the fact that Since....
Utah and Stanford played similar schedules, Utah's victory doesn't trump the fact that Stanford had a better season/team. The ONLY measuring stick between BYU and Utah, that isn't subjective, is the actual result of the games. You can use all the excuses you want, fact is Utah was the better team each and every time that last four times.

I am not saying BYU is a bad team. I think they will do well this year. That being said, they are not head and shoulders above Utah, and they certainly would struggle with the hardest schedule in the country, just like Utah likely will.

As for your comment on the polls...really?? When is the last time a pre-season poll was remotely accurate?? Come on! You know for fact that is based solely on the record from last year.
