A 38th ranked schedule is not an easy schedule.
Utah's was tougher, obviously (Ranked 3rd SOS). But a 38th ranked schedule is tougher than almost any year in the WAC and MWC for either team. It's not like Boise that played a schedule ranked in the 70's. Nebraska 55th. Alabama 39th. Michigan State 51st.

Please stop perpetuating the theory that BYU played a soft schedule last year. If Utah can't go bowling because their schedule is too tough, that doesn't make BYU a worse team.
This year lightens up a bit (sadly), but then it will just get stronger as we start getting into the next 6 years or so. Heck, there might come a point where we play more PAC12 teams than Utah each year. (TIC)
