I always wondered if Jackson was going to add in the Army of the Dead

at Minas Tirith, why didn't he just have them go along with Aragorn to the Iron Gates? I mean, if he deviated already from the story to have them win the battle at Minas Tirith, why not have them continue on? Because, in reality, why would Aragorn free them after Minas Tirith considering they were the deadliest army to walk the earth...seems to me they could be very handy in a tight spot.
