The big shift in Bronco's thinking IMO is that he has finally left behind the
business model of leadership for the military model.
His attempts to impose a business model on BYU football are well documented by Bronco himself. I think he has finally recognized that it doesn't work and has put in place a different model where he is now the CinC rather than the CEO. His subordinates are now much more ruthless in dealing with the players than before. While they still want them to "self motivate" the consequences for failure to do so have skyrocketed. Bronco is spending more time leading than managing.
