They won't do it but IMO, Texas and OK would be smarter in the long run
to just blow up the Big12 and create a whole new conference with the strongest members of the Big12 and then add the best bigger market teams they can find to cut out some of the dead weight (Iowa St, Baylor, and West Virginia) and then renegotiate their TV deals. Something like ...

Texas (all of Texas/national)
Texas Tech
TCU (Dallas/Ft Worth #5 market)
Oklahoma (all of Oklahoma/national)
Oklahoma St (Oklahoma City #45 market)
Kansas (Kansas City #31 market)
Kansas St (Kansas City #31 market)
BYU (Salt Lake Market #33 market/national)
UNLV (Las Vegas #42 market)
San Diego St (San Diego #28 market)
Colorado St (Denver #18 market)

One of Houston/Tulsa/New Mexico to round out a 12 team conference.

The conference would still have some weaker teams but they'd be teams with potential that are in some of the fastest growing cities in the country too. Dunno, but I think the conference would be in a much better position overall.
