A doctor always keeps a pen and thermometer in his front pocket
When visiting with a patient, he decides that the patient needs a prescription.
He goes to write down the information on the prescription pad and realizes that he is trying to use his thermometer to write with, to which he says, "Oh, man, some bum has got my pen . . ."
